IL BANDO
CONCEPT
Presente Futuro 2024 è la diciottesima edizione di un festival internazionale dedicato alla creazione contemporanea nell’ambito delle arti performative della scena (Teatro, Danza, Teatro-Danza, Physical Theatre, Performance). Presente Futuro accompagna la creazione contemporanea attraverso una rete di collaborazioni internazionali, sostegno alla produzione, residenze e confronto con pubblici e operatori del settore di diversi paesi, ponendosi come momento di visibilità e promozione della scena emergente europea. Rispondendo all’identità internazionale e alla vocazione dello scambio artistico culturale del Teatro Libero Palermo e del suo storico festival Incontroazione.
Il Festival declinerà la propria identità attraverso attività di formazione, incontri, scambi e diversi premi che consentiranno di ottenere un budget di produzione, diverse residenze e alcune date di programmazione.
Il primo premio, Presente Futuro 2024 Prize, prevede una quota di produzione di 2.000€, 15 giorni di residenza, e l’opportunità di presentare la versione completa del proprio lavoro all’interno della stagione 24/25 del Teatro Libero o in seno alla 19esima edizione del Festival Presente Futuro nel 2025.
Verranno inoltre assegnati altri premi che favoriranno il sostegno alla creazione artistica tra cui diverse residenze internazionali: La residenza promossa dal festival Between The Seas (Grecia), dal Teatro San Materno di Ascona (Svizzera), dalla Cie La Baraka presso lo Studio Coréographique la Chapelle de Sainte-Marie di Annonay e una residenza nazionale promossa dal Dipartimento SARAS dell’Università La Sapienza di Roma in collaborazione con l’Associazione Settimo Cielo/ Teatro Comunale La Fenice di Arsoli (RM) o premi in denaro, erogati dal Teatro San Materno di Ascona (Svizzera) e dal COBAS Scuola di Palermo.
IL BANDO
Art. 1) AMMISSIBILITÀ
Possono partecipare al Bando le compagnie residenti su tutto il territorio dell’unione Europea, che possono garantire Agibilità (Modello A1 per le compagnie non residenti in Italia), inseriti in un percorso professionale da almeno tre anni, tra i cui componenti vi sia una prevalenza di artisti e/o tecnici con età inferiore ai 38 anni, che propongano creazioni compiute o parti di creazioni della durata di 20 minuti (per un massimo di 30) nell’ambito delle performing arts (teatro, danza, teatro-danza, performance). La selezione è aperta anche a progetti in fase di creazione o studi che abbiano raggiunto una forma compiuta pari alla durata sopra esposta.
Per accedere alla selezione è necessario inviare la documentazione a mezzo mail così come indicato nell’articolo 4 del presente bando.
L’ammissione è a giudizio insindacabile della direzione del Teatro Libero che selezionerà sulla base della qualità e della coerenza del progetto rispetto agli obiettivi del Festival. L’esito della selezione, la data e l’orario di esibizione saranno comunicati ai referenti dei progetti scelti.
L’iscrizione è gratuita.
Art. 2) ARTICOLAZIONE DEL CONCORSO
La sezione della competizione del Festival si articolerà in diverse giornate e vedrà programmati quattro progetti a sera. Ciascuna compagnia avrà a disposizione 30 minuti, nel corso dei quali dovrà effettuare la performance, il relativo montaggio e lo smontaggio. La giuria e il pubblico prenderanno parte alle serate e dopo l’ultima giornata di concorso decreteranno i vincitori.
Art.3) SCHEDA TECNICA E LOGISTICA
I progetti dovranno prevedere poco ingombro scenico e comunque essere tecnicamente agili così da consentire il rapido susseguirsi di performance nell’arco delle serate. Il Teatro fornirà una scheda tecnica di base (allegato D).
Sarà prevista una fase di pre-montaggio comune tra le performance in concorso. Poiché lo spazio Teatro Libero è un bene monumentale, non è consentita utilizzazione di fuoco, colori liquidi o in polvere, terra, sabbia, sale, fumo, per l’allestimento scenico o durante lo svolgimento dello spettacolo, eventuali esigenze specifiche e particolari dovranno essere comunicate all’atto dell’iscrizione e saranno oggetto di approvazione da parte della direzione del Teatro. Inoltre, il materiale d’ingombro (casse, bauli della sartoria, imballaggi, altri materiali non necessari allo spettacolo) deve essere conservato, a cura della Compagnia, sul proprio camion e/o comunque non potrà essere custodito per nessun motivo in teatro oltre il tempo necessario alla performance.
Ciascuna compagnia avrà a disposizione 2 ore per l’allestimento e le prove nello spazio del Teatro, secondo un calendario che verrà concordato e sottoscritto.
Art. 4) PRESENTAZIONE DELLA DOMANDA
Per l’iscrizione al bando di selezione è necessario inviare entro e non oltre il 21 febbraio 2024 alle ore 12 a mezzo mail all’indirizzo di posta elettronica: bandi@teatroliberopalermo.it, una mail avente come oggetto: “PF2024 + TITOLO PROGETTO”, contenente la seguente documentazione, scaricabile dal sito www.teatroliberopalermo.it, debitamente compilata:
- Scheda d’iscrizione al bando (Allegato A). L’allegato ha valore di autorizzazione al trattamento dei dati personali e sottoscrizione di ogni articolo del presente regolamento;
- Scheda dati della compagnia e dei suoi componenti (Allegato B),
- Condizioni di partecipazione al Festival (Allegato C),
- Scheda tecnica (Allegato D).
Si prega di allegare inoltre i seguenti materiali:
- Foto della creazione (di cui almeno 2 a buona risoluzione per la stampa),
- Link al video integrale del progetto, (non si accettano video inviati tramite Wetransfer, Google drive né su supporto DVD)
- Curriculum della compagnia
- Documento attestante i dati fiscali della società/compagnia che stipulerà l’accordo formale con il Teatro.
Art. 5) LA GIURIA
La giuria del premio sarà composta da operatori, giornalisti e studiosi del settore di livello internazionale.
Art. 6) I PREMI
Il festival prevede l’assegnazione di diversi premi:
- Primo premio festival Presente Futuro 2024, che prevede:
- 2.000,00 € come budget di sostegno produttivo e residenza
- una residenza di 15 giorni presso il Teatro Libero di Palermo, con l’obiettivo di sostenere lo sviluppo della creazione e la possibilità di realizzare una creazione di almeno 50 minuti;
- la programmazione del progetto esito della residenza, in seno alla 19esima edizione del Festival Presente Futuro 2025.
- BTS (Between the Seas) Residenza artistica presso Atene o Monemvasia (Grecia) con una restituzione pubblica del lavoro finale.
- Premio “Per un Teatro necessario”, assegnato dal Dipartimento SARAS dell’Università La Sapienza di Roma in collaborazione con l’Associazione Settimo Cielo, che prevede una residenza presso il Teatro Comunale La Fenice di Arsoli (RM). Premio dedicato a consolidare i processi di ricambio generazionale nel quadro di rinnovamenti dei sistemi produttivi del teatro italiano.
- Premio Teatro San Materno Ascona – Svizzera, che offrirà:
- 1.000,00 €
- una settimana di residenza presso il Teatro San Materno di Ascona con una restituzione pubblica di almeno 40’;
- Premio La Baraka / Studio Coréographique Chapelle Sainte-Marie: 15 giorni di residenza per una compagnia di danza con alloggio presso lo Studio coreografico La Chapelle Sainte-Marie di Annonay;
- Premio Zero in condotta – Cobas, che assegnerà 500,00 € al progetto selezionato dalla giuria Cobas che privilegerà tematiche socio-politico-sindacali.
Art. 8) COPERTURA DELLE SPESE
Il Teatro garantirà un rimborso spese pari a 250,00 € per ciascun componente delle compagnie selezionate alla partecipazione alla fase finale del premio. È previsto il rimborso per un massimo di 4 elementi a compagnia, di cui almeno la metà dovrà essere performer.
Art. 9) LIBERATORIA
È facoltà del Teatro abbinare al concorso operazioni di diffusione mediatica e fotografica. Le compagnie dei progetti selezionati, con l’accettazione delle condizioni di partecipazione, autorizzano la registrazione, la messa in onda e ogni forma di diffusione di immagini e materiale audiovisivo riguardanti la propria performance, senza alcuna limitazione di spazio e/o tempo e a titolo gratuito, senza avere nulla a pretendere sia dal Teatro sia da eventuali emittenti pubbliche o private o collaboratori. Il rappresentante di ogni compagnia sarà tenuto a dare la propria disponibilità per eventuali interviste e/o attività di promozione del Festival.

THE CALL
CONCEPT
Presente Futuro 2024 is the 18th edition of an international festival dedicated to contemporary creation in the performing arts of the stage (Theatre, Dance-Theatre, Physical Theatre, Performance). Presente Futuro accompanies contemporary creation through a network of international collaborations, support for production, residencies and exchanges with audiences and sector operators from different countries, acting as a moment of visibility and promotion of the emerging European scene. It responds to the international identity and the vocation of artistic cultural exchange of the Teatro Libero Palermo and its historic Incontroazione festival.
The festival will be full of workshops, meetings, exchanges and several awards that will allow to obtain a production budget, different residencies and the programming dates.
The “Presente Futuro Prize” includes a production quota of 2.000,00€, a 15-days artistic residency and the chance to show the long version of the project over the 2024/2025 Season of Teatro Libero or during Presente Futuro Festival 2025. Other awards will be assigned, such as the international residencies offered by the festival Between The Seas (Greece) and San Materno Theatre in Ascona (Switzerland), by Cie La Baraka at the Studio Coréographique la Chapelle de Sainte-Marie in Annonay, and a national residency offered by the Association Settimo Cielo of Rome/Teatro Comunale La Fenice di Arsoli (RM) or money prizes in order to support the artistic creation and provided by San Materno Theatre in Ascona (Switzerland) and by COBAS Scuola of Palermo.
THE CALL
Art. 1) ADMISSIBILITY
Single artists, companies resident in the UE can join the call if they:
- are provided with the insurance (A1 model for not-residents in Italy);
- have an artistic and professional experience of at least 3 years;
- are preferably under 35;
- can propose a work (or a piece of work) no longer than 20 minutes and related to the field of the performing arts (theatre, dance, dance-theatre, performance).
The selection is also open to embryonic projects, which are still in the making, but long at least 20 minutes.
In order to join the call it is necessary to send via e-mail the required documents, specified in the art. 4 of this call.
The admission will be decided by the artistic direction of Teatro Libero according to the quality and the coherence of the project in relation to the goals of the festival.
The results of the selection will be published on the website of the Theatre and the selected company will be soon contacted and given all the information related to the schedule of the festival.
The participation is free of charge.
Art. 2) ARTICULATION OF THE CONTEST
The selection will be held from from 14th to 18th May 2024 with 4 projects per day. Each company will have 30 minutes to perform, assemble and dismantle. The jury and the public will be present at the 3 evenings and after the last day, they both decide the winners.
Art.3) TECHNICAL AND LOGISTICS FORM
You will be sharing the space with other companies so the time for get-ins will be limited. Technical plans should be simple and flexible to permit the rapid succession of the performances during the 3 evenings. The theatre will provide you with a technical form (Enclosure D). There will be a pre-assembly phase for the performances in competition. As the space of Teatro Libero is a monumental property, the company must inform the staff in case they want to use water, fire, liquid or powder colors, earth, sand, salt, steam during the scenic construction or in the performance and they must obtain the related written authorization from the direction of the theatre. Furthermore, the company must store on their own truck the packed material (boxes, tailoring trunks, packaging and other materials not required in the performance). Nothing can be left in the theatre beyond the time necessary to the performance.
The Theatre will arrange with the selected companies a rehearsal schedule so that each company will be guaranteed 2 hours of rehearsal in the Theatre on the day of the staging.
Art. 4) PRESENTATION OF THE APPLICATION
The deadline for submissions is the 21th of FEBRUARY 2024 at 12.00 am Everyone who wants to take part in the selection must send an email to: bandi@teatroliberopalermo.it indicating in the object “PF2024 Bando + Title of work” with the following documents:
- Enclosure A (application form) duly completed in all its parts,
- Enclosure B (company data form),
- Enclosure C (terms of participation),
- Enclosure D (technical rider),
- HD pictures of the projects (at leats 2 for the press),
- Link of the full video of the project, there won’t be accepted video sent through Wetransfer/Google Drive nor DVD,
- Document attesting the tax data of the company/society, which will sign the formal agreement with the Theatre
- Curriculum of the company.
ART. 5) THE JURY
The jury of the competition will be composed by international theatre programmers and critics.
ART. 6) THE PRIZE
The festival will award several prizes according to the goals of the Festival and the jury’s verdict, and in particular what follows:
- Presente Futuro 2024 award, which includes:
- 2.000,00 €,
- a 15-days artistic residency at Teatro Libero Palermo, with the aim of supporting the creation development and the production of a complete performance, long at least 50 minutes,
- the participation with the long version of the winning project over the 2024/2025 Season of Teatro Libero or during Presente Futuro Festival 2025.
- BTS (Between the Seas) artistic residency in Athens or Monemvasia (Greece) with a public show;
- La Baraka Prize / Studio Coréographique Chapelle Sainte-Marie: 15-day residency for a dance company with accommodation at the La Chapelle Sainte-Marie Choreographic Studio in Annoncy;
- Social award “Per un teatro necessario”, assigned by the History of Art and Theatre department of La Sapienza University of Rome in collaboration with the association Settimo Cielo, which will offer a residency at Teatro Comunale La Fenice in Arsoli (RM). Award dedicated to consolidate the generational change as part of production systems’s renewal of the italian theater
- Teatro San Materno Ascona – Swiss award, which will offer:
- 1.000,00 €,
- one-week residency at Teatro San Materno in Ascona with a public show not shorter than 40 mins.
- Zero in condotta – Cobas award, which will assign 500,00 € to the project considered by the jury of Cobas with the most socio and political union issues.
ART. 7) ECONOMICAL ASPECTS
The Theatre will guarantee a fee of 250,00 € for each member of the selected company taking part in the final phase of the contest, for maximum 4 members of the company (2 of whom must be performers).
ART. 8) RELEASE FORM
Each participant to the festival grant permission to the Theatre to use their images, representations of their audio and/or visual works and their verbal and written statements for promotional purposes in publications, advertising, video, web, social media, or other formats. The images may be used now or in the future. Waiving any right to inspect or approve the finished images/footage or any printed or electronic materials and accepting that the Theatre does not owe anyone any compensation for their use. The main contact of each company will be asked to be available for a possible interview.
